From our research, we will share with you all the pros and cons we have found about the Ignite stroller, with the view to helping you decide if this popular lightweight umbrella stroller is a good match for you or not.

With that said, lets get started with our The First Years Ingite Stroller review:-

The First Years Ignite Stroller – Product Details

This is an umbrella stroller ideal for toddlers or children from about 6 months old – it is not for newborn babies.  It is extremely lightweight (approx. 14lbs) and includes a five point harness which can be adjusted to different heights as your child grows older (in fact it will hold a child up to 50lbs which for a lightweight stroller would rival most strollers on the market).

The First Years Ignite Stroller - side view

The dimensions of this stroller (34.5 x 18.5 x 30 inches) should make it easy for most parents to easily push it around without having to bend over or find that they kick the back of the stroller whilst walking, however we would probably recommend you check this out for yourself if you are over 6 foot tall.

The wheels on this first years stroller are fairly basic and both the front and the back wheels have a locking mechanism which is more than adequate to prevent this stroller from rolling away. It probably wouldn’t make the best off road stroller but it was not really built for that anyway.

The Ignite has a few handy storage pockets (called the “parent organiser”) by the handles allowing you to store drinks or other small items in. It also has some storage space under the seat, however just be aware that access to this storage space is somewhat limited due to the design of the stroller so you are unlikely to get large bags or items in it, but it really convenient for carrying smaller items though.

The seat is really comfortable for your children but it doesn’t recline completely flat but enough for the smaller toddler to sleep without the “head slump” which is a definite good point.

It is very easy to fold down with a lever action pressed by the foot and it is light enough to be able to do this with one hand whilst the other hand is occupied, maybe holding little one.  It fits very easily in the trunk of your car leaving plenty of trunk space for others things too.

This stroller has two models: The Aprica Presto and The Aprica Presto Flat which is kind of like a travel system version of the Presto.  The great thing about a Presto flat it is adaptable to take certain car seats, so it will see you through from the moment your child is born right up until they no longer need a stroller so it is classed as a Travel System.  The Aprica Presto is suitable for children aged 3/4 months upwards so it classed as a stroller.

So less of the small talk, lets get started with our Aprica Presto stroller review:

Aprica Presto – Details

This stroller is for a baby that is approx 3 or 4 months and older, which is about when your child’s head has stabilized and they can hold their own head up on their own for a length of time.   It is super lightweight stroller and yet can still hold a child up to 70lbs.

The Aprica stroller has a high seat position which means that lifting your child in and out is much easier and in a roundabout way this can actually give more leg room for the growing child.  The five point harness has three height settings so it can accommodate any height of child.

Being lightweight it is also self standing for easy handling and storage.  The seat is removable and washable which is really useful for the length of time you expect to use the stroller for.  It has a one hand recline system which makes transitioning the seat from upright to recline very easily so you can recline sleepy toddler without disturbing them and it means their head will not be flopping against the frame.

A really great model for travelling and in and out of the car.

Aprica Presto Flat – Product Details

Aprica Presto Flat StrollerThe Aprica Presto Flat model is great because it incorporated an ingenious adaptor into the stroller which allows you to snap a child car seat (limited to the Graco and Teutonia cars seats) into the stroller without any additional contraptions.

Being able to do this allows you to  not only invest in a lightweight stroller, which has many benefits on its own,  but at the same time use it in conjunction with a new born child in their early months of development. As opposed to getting a full on travel system at the beginning and be left with a potentially bulky stroller for years unless you decide to change it.

So at first, your car child seat will clip onto the stroller so you can transfer your newborn from the car to your stroller with all the ease and support that is required, but as they grow out of the car seat you have a lightweight stroller that can carry children up to a healthy weight of 70lbs.

The seat has four reclining positions from flat to upright and the padding is even contoured to give your small baby support for their head and body.  There is even a padded insert to make the surface comfy and warm for your baby. The leg rest folds up to create a bassinet shape to the stroller which makes it really cosy and secure for small babies.

The stroller then transforms as your baby grows through the infant and toddler modes with the leg rest, the three heights for the five point harness and seat reclines.

What others are saying

  • The basket has great access because the seat is higher than other strollers.

    Aprica Presto Flat Stroller

  • High seat for getting child in and out and good for taller parents.

  • The front wheels lock for different surfaces.

  • The folding system is safe and you can be more confident about not amputating fingers.
  • Very durable and long lasting.
  • The wheel brakes are step on pedals.

What people did not like:

From our research, we will share with you all the pros and cons we have found about these strollers, with the view to helping you decide if the Eddie Bauer travel systems are a good match for you or not.

The great thing about a travel systems is that they will see you through from the moment your child is born right up until they no longer need a stroller, so a wise choice in the beginning will be the best investment you will make.

With that said, lets get started with our review:-

Eddie Bauer Travel System – Product Details

The Eddie Bauer strollers comes with a Eddie Bauer car seat that very easily clips into the stroller, so you can transfer your newborn straight from your car to your stroller and back again without disturbing them. As far at toddlers go this stroller will carry children up to 50lbs so you are well catered for in the long term.

Attaching the car seat to the stroller is extremely easy and many of the reviews we came across confirmed this. In fact, the car seat fits so securely into the stroller you can actually you can pick the whole stroller and car seat up, just by the handle on the car seat, which just goes to prove how secure the car seat is once clipped on to the main stroller.

One extremely useful feature of the Eddie Bauer travel system is the one hand fold and stand feature with self locking feature. Basically, this means you can push one easily accessible button on the handle, with one hand, and fold the stroller down to a standing position, where once folded it will self lock itself.

Also, when the stroller is in the fold position you can still easily wheel the travel system around, allowing your to move it to somewhere convenient in order to put it away, which is something you can’t do with a lot of travel systems.

It comes with a 5 point harness in both the car seat and stroller so has all the safety you need for your child, and depending on the exact model you get there are cup holders for both the parents and the children.

From a storage perspective, it has a large storage basket underneath the seat which has plenty of space for all your travel requirements. One good feature of this storage basket is it come with a spring loaded handle, which has the benefit of allowing your to put items in and out of it even when the seat is in the child seat is in the fully reclined position.

This stroller comes in neutral colors and there is plenty of padding on the seats, especially the car seat which comes with extra side impact protect, so safety in not compromised but comfort is part of the package.

We did come across a few little rants from people when looking through all the feedback but didn’t really find anything substantial to report. One person mentioned that their Eddie Bauer baby stroller started squeaking a short while after buying and using it and someone else found the straps a were a little difficult and fiddly to use, but in our view they are insignificant really.

Eddie Bauer Travel System – Summary

All in all them Eddie Bauer Travel System is a great stroller if you are after a all in one solution for you and your child. It has all the necessary features you would want in a travel system but perhaps the most prominent and best feature is how easy it folds down to a stand position, all with one hand.

It is a little on the heavy side (approx 47lbs), but you should expect that with any travel system and its reasonably priced too, although not the cheapest on the market.

One thing worth a mention is that the few people who hated this travel system really hated it, so our advice would be to perhaps go and physically look at one in a local store first.  Push it around, clip the car seat in and out, move the handles to their extreme and really road test it to make sure its what you want.

Like any travel stroller, including the Eddie Bauer travel system, you get what you pay for so always look at all your options before you decide to buy, but more importantly choose a travel system that you want and not want other recommend.

Graco Duoglider Double Stroller

Graco Duoglider Stroller

In this post we are going to review the Graco Duoglider double stroller. The fact you are reading this tells us that you probably need a double/tandem stroller based on your own circumstances.

This could be that you are are expecting twins, have a small baby already and are expecting a second baby soon, or if you are planning to have two babies very close together then the Graco Duoglider Double Stroller may be for you.

Graco is a global brand that has been in existence for nearly 60 years and they have plenty of experience with baby products, especially their Graco double strollers. So if you are unfamiliar with their products you can be assured that their strollers have been fully safety tested and designed with your child in mind.

So with that being said lets have a look what the Graco Duoglider double stroller has to offer.

Graco Duoglider Double Stroller – Product details

The Graco Duogliderd double stroller is a tandem stroller that is built to last, all the way from having your newborn baby to young children who no longer need a stroller.  It has stadium style tandem seating which means it has one seat behind the other where the seat at the back is slightly raised for a better view for the child behind.

The front canopy will detach, so the child at the rear will have a better view, and you can keep your eye on the child in the rear as that canopy has a peek-a-boo window.

The great thing about these seats is that the rear seat reclines fully flat which is ideal for a newborn baby. If you have twins, both seats will accommodate the Graco Infant Car Seat (Snugride) allowing you to fit two newborns in this stroller.  Just be aware that the front seat reclines enough for your child to have a comfortable nap, but it does not lie fully flat.  Each seat has their own canopy and foot rest so there is no arguing over leg room.

The suspension on the stroller is good making it a smooth ride for a sleeping child and it has a safety strap system which can be a 5 way harness or a 3 way harness to accommodate your child as they grow.

For the mom’s and dad’s  – It folds easily with a one hand action and the front wheels lock into place if you are travelling on smooth surfaces/terrain.  The easy access large storage basket means you can access your baggage without disturbing a sleeping newborn which is a definite plus, but be aware that when the rear seat is fully reclined access to the basket is somewhat limited.

Finally, the stroller comes in a few neutral designs and colors, so it means that any parent would not look out of place pushing this stroller.

Graco Duoglider Double Stroller – What others are saying

This is really an impressive stroller for maneuvering around corners and current owners have been amazed how this stroller moves around. Lets have a look at what other people were saying which we found out during our research of the Graco double stroller.

What people liked:

  • Great maneuverability and easy to push.

    Graco Duoglider LX Stroller

    Graco Duoglider LX Stroller

  • Easy to fold and did not take up too much room in the trunk either for a double stroller.
  • The basket is easy to access and very large.
  • The price is great for the amount of stroller you get so great value for money.
  • It is durable and goes well for years.
  • It has a tray on the front seat for snacks, drinks and toys.
  • It feels sturdy like a typical Graco product.

What people did not like:

  • Could do with an extra cup holder to make it three.
  • The basket is not easily accessible when the rear seat is fully reclined.
  • Baby faces forward so it is difficult to have lots of contact between mom and baby.
  • Front seat is small for a larger child but that is the same for a lot of double strollers.

Here a short video of the Graco Duo glider stroller in action:-

Graco Duoglider Double Stroller – Summary

In summary the Graco Duo glider double stroller is good for new born babies through to older children, so if have twins on the way or a small age gap between your children then this stroller should see you through nearly all of your stroller needs.

Our research found some moms that had even owned other double strollers before, but thought this particular stroller was a great piece of baby kit and well worth the money it costs, because it felt sturdy and has the quality of the Graco brand.  Just remember that it all comes down to personal opinion and no stroller is perfect for everyone, but as double strollers go this certainly has its benefits compared to others on the market.

This stroller has some great features but you are not paying for all the silly gimmicks you can sometimes find.  If you are looking for a double stroller that will help, not hinder you, with two small children then the Graco Duoglider double stroller is definitely worth a look.

Does it really matter which way your baby faces in their stroller?

There are so many strollers out there on the market that it can be hard to know which one to get.  The reason that there is so much choice is that everyone is different and wants something individual from a stroller.  What suits you will not suit someone else and therefore you should always look for strollers based on your own situation and requirements and not anybody else’s.

One interesting issue that gets discussed a lot is which way should your child face. Some strollers have the seat facing away from the parents, and some strollers have the seat facing towards the parent. So which is best?

Research has shown that new born babies cannot see very far in the first few months of their lives, in fact, it is only when they reach about six months old that they can actually see across a whole room.   Therefore in the first few months of a new born’s life, if they can’t see the world around them, then would it be more beneficial for children to face the parents?

As a new parent it’s not always easy having a one-sided conversations with your child, but further research has suggested that it can help in your childs development.  Some studies have observed mothers with strollers that face their child have have found that they are more likely to talk, make faces and laugh with their babies more than mothers who are pushing strollers where their baby is facing away from them.

On the flip side of parent facing strollers, once your baby is a little older and can see much further, then the outside world can become a lot more interesting than just seeing their parents face, no offence to mommy or daddy.  It can also give you a nice break allowing your child entertain themselves with what is going on around them rather than you having to entertain them constantly.

So Which Is Best – Facing Forward Or Not?

If you can find a stroller that faces both ways (for example the Contours Options tandem stroller) then great, but it is not essential so don’t let anyone tell you what is best for you, only you will know that.  Don’t choose a stroller based on it facing one way or another, get it based on your own lifestyle and requirements. Consider the resaerch but also realise that there is nothing really conclusive out there.

Your child will always love you for you, as long as you are the best parent you can be, so don’t stress too much about whether a stroller is forward facing or not and don’t be hindered by any stories or myths that say otherwise. Get whats best for you.

Baby Stroller Buying Guide

Welcome to our baby stroller buying guide. A stroller is one of those items that parents can’t really do without when it comes to their children. However, there are so many strollers on the market today it can be difficult for some parents to know where to start and what to buy.

The good news is that strollers come in all different shapes, sizes and styles, and include all sorts of features that will be useful for some parents but not for others. The point I’m making is, there is a stroller out there for everyone, you just need to consider your own circumstances and whats important to you.

With that being said, this baby stroller buying guide will give you plenty to think about so you can make a more informed decision about the type of stroller you need. Don’t fall into the trap of leaving it all to the last minute and making an impulse buy, only to find out you hate the stroller and now you can’t change it or get your money back.

Safety First

Before we get into things you should consider, perhaps the single most important thing to always consider when buying any stroller is your child’s safety. I know we are stating the obvious here, and most strollers on the market should be up to standard, but if you are going down the second hand stroller route just make sure the stroller has been looked after and is still up to the job for how long you are going to keep it for. (also see our post on the top 10 stroller safety tips)

Considerations – Before You Buy

Now you know how important it is to consider all your options and choose the right stroller for you, especially when you will be using your stroller on a daily basis for the next few years, lets look at things you may need to consider before you buy.

Whats Your Stroller For?

As silly as it sounds you first need to consider what you want the stroller for. Are you a first time parent looking for your first stroller – if so you need to consider single strollers all the way up to travel systems (like the Graco Snugride travel system). Are you a keep fit fanatic and don’t want to let being a parent hold you back – then consider a jogging stroller. Are you expecting twins or triplets even – then double/tandem or treble strollers are for you.

Always consider your lifestyle and where you will be going out and about and what you need a stroller for before you start looking for that ideal stroller that you will love.

Space Restrictions

The choice of stroller you choose could be based on storage space. Where will you be keeping the stroller when not in use?  Do you have plenty of storage space or room at home where you can leave your stroller up permanently? If not then you may need to consider some of the smaller compact strollers that fold up easily.

Do you have the trunk space in your car for your stroller?

Stroller Weight

You might not be able to get away with buying a lightweight stroller if you need to get a double/treble stroller but if you don’t, just be concious that stroller weight might be an issue for you. For instance, if you live in a high rise appartment the last thing you want to do is lump a heavy stroller about. If you are on and off the bus then consider the weight of your stroller.  The weightier strollers however can be more stable and carry more features and yet they still fold into the trunk quite easily so look at what your stroller will have to go through.

Transport

Do you own a car or not? If so, how much trunk space do you have for a stroller? If you will be using the car everyday can you fold and unfold the stroller easily enough? Do you use public transport? If so then you need a travel friendly stroller that is easy to move about and will keep baby safe.

Travel

How much travelling do you do, if any. If you regularly fly then you need a lightweight stroller (such as the Jeep Cherokee sport Stroller) that is easily accommodating at airports. Again if you are on and off public transport daily then equally you need a suitable stroller.

Your Child’s Age

Not all strollers are suitable for newborns and/or toddlers, so consider what you want the stroller for. If it is for your newborn baby then make sure you only look at strollers that can accommodate them. It might be that you have a toddler so some of the newborn features are not that essential and therefore you have a different choice entirely.

Your Height

Believe it or not, your height can play a big part on what stroller you choose. A stroller might tick all the boxes when it comes to your child but if you end up having to bend down to push it or your feet keep kicking the back of the stroller as you walk, then you will soon become unhappy with your stroller.

Some strollers do have adjustable handles for the taller person, so look out for that. Just be aware that your height can be an issue so again make sure you factor that in when you buy.  Why not visit a few stroller shops and try pushing a few around to give you an idea of what to buy and then hit the Internet for the best deals.

Your Budget

If you are on a budget then stick to looking for strollers in your price range. There’s no point breaking the bank for the latest and greatest stroller if you are going to spend the next few years paying it off.

One thing you could do is, once you have decided on which stroller you want, is to look online for a good deal. Some great deals can be found online if you are prepared to look around and if the price is right you might be able to get a stroller that you originally thought you couldn’t afford.

Buying Guide Summary

The whole point of this post is to get you to think about your own lifestyle so you can match up the right stroller to your own circumstances. What we are trying to do here is provide you food for thought, so you consciously consider all aspects of your life and so you can make a more informed decision about the stroller you buy.

Too many people make an impulse buy on their first stroller by listening to everyone else, but that is just the wrong way to go about it. The reason for this is chances are everyone else’s situation and circumstances are going to be different from yours, so a stroller that suits your friend might not necessarily suit you.

There plenty of choice out there when it comes to strollers, and although you may have to compromise on a few things, if you do your research properly you will get a stroller that not only ticks all the boxes but it is something you will be happy with for the next few years.

We hope you enjoyed this baby stroller buying guide and it helps you think through exactly which stroller will suit you.

Our Top 10 Stroller Safety Tips For You And Your Baby

I’m sure you will agree that your babies safety is probably your number one concern from the moment they are born. With that being said, most parents will be using a stroller of some kind so in this post we will share our top 10 safety tips for you and your baby when using your stroller.

No matter what stroller you use, they should all be manufactured to a certain standard, however like with any product we use for our child there are always going to be some risks and dangers involved with their use. So

1. Strap Up

Makes sure you child is always strapped in properly, ensuring that your child cannot wriggle free but at the same time not doing the straps up too tight. As your child gets older they are more likely to try to climb out or stand up, so it is equally important to strap them in. By strapping them in from birth your child will be used to them by the time they are actually aware they are there.  This prevents them from falling out of the stroller and injuring themselves.

2. Check The Brakes

Always check the brakes are working before every trip you make. This should only takes you a few seconds to do, but for obvious reasons can mean the difference between a unnecessary and potentially serious accident.

3. Right size

Make sure the stroller you are using is suitable for your child. For instance some strollers are for toddlers only, so don’t be tempted to put a new born  baby in, and visa versa, as your child grows make sure the stroller you are using are suitable for their height and weight.

4. Wheel & Maintenance Check

Some strollers get a lot of use and can get thrown about quite a lot, so do periodic wheel and maintenance checks are a good idea to make sure your stroller is in good order and safe to use.. Some stroller have adjustable wheels so always ensure they are tight and properly secure. Also make sure all the catches, latches and buttons work correctly.

5. Don’t Overload

Some strollers come with plenty of storage space under the seats, so you should have space for everything you need. However, some of the smaller lightweight strollers, like the Jeep Cherokee sport stroller, have limited storage space so it is tempting to hang heavy bags over the handles making the stoller top heavy with the threat of potentially toppling over. Don’t do it under any circumstances as the minute you take your hand away from the stroller it will tip backwards with your baby in it.

6. Hot Drinks

A lot of stroller these days come with child and parent cup holders for easy access to drinks. Although I doubt any parent will give their children a hot drink, it might be tempting for the parents to  use their cup holders for hot drinks themselves. You might be partial to a regular caffeine influx but don’t risk the possibility of spilling anything hot over your child.

7. Sharp or Small Toys

Don’t let your child have any sharp or small toys in the seat with them. You can’t keep your eye on them at all time, especially if it is a forward facing seat with a good canopy, so don’t give them the opportunity to swallow or hurt themselves with small toys. This does seem pretty obvious but its tempting to give them things to play with when you are out to keep them amused or stop them crying.

8. Food Breaks

When out on long trips or family days out, there are times when you will probably let your child eat in the stroller. We would always advise to stop somewhere and sit with your child so you can eat properly while at the same time keeping an eye on your child whilst they are eating. This may seem like another obvious point but if you are out in a noisy environment it can be difficult to hear if your child is in need of help.

9. Never Leave Unattended

Never leave your child unattended and in the stroller alone. This doesn’t mean you have to be joined at the hip, but if you need to stray from your child for whatever reason, always make it sure you only leave them in the presence of another responsible adult, not child, that you trust 100%.

10. Stray Clothing

Depending on the time of year, and your climate you live in, you may use a lot more clothing and blankets to keep your child warm and safe. No matter how much you try long clothing and blankets can drape down and potentially get caught and wrapped up in wheels or framework. This could be potentially hazardous if a jacket they are wearing or a blanket they are wrapped in is pulled or jolted from them quickly.

So there you have our top ten stroller safety tips, as the safety of your child is of the utmost importance.

The Different Types Of Strollers -  Explained

In this post we are going to give you a brief overview of the different types of stroller available to you, in the hope that it will help you in your search for the perfect stroller.

Now, some strollers will fall into one or more categories so don’t get too hung up on the categorization of a stroller. The most important thing is the stroller does what you want and has all the necessary features you need.

Having said that, having an idea of different types of stroller will give you an idea on where to start your search.

Lightweight Strollers

Lightweight strollers are exactly what you would think, they are very light in weight. (Note – Some of the cheaper smaller ones are sometimes referred to as umbrella strollers because a lot of them have hooked handles and fold up easy and compact just like a umbrella). A typical lightweight stroller will be under 15 lbs and with some, we have seen as low a 6lbs.

These type of strollers are ideal for travelling abroad or for quick trips out, and tend to be a lot cheaper than other types of stroller. One thing to note is some lightweight strollers, typically the umbrella type ones, do not have seats that fully recline, so are probably not ideal for small babies.

Some of these strollers are cheaply made and are no as study as other strollers, but they serve a purpose and are an ideal as a second stroller for parents.

Most standard strollers cater for newborns right up to young infants and toddlers, and all generally come with plenty of features to see you right through all the early years of child. You will probably see a variation in price ranges, and this will depend on how many features the stroller has so look at what features you want and which you do not really need.

Travel Systems

Travel systems are your all in one solutions to baby travel and offer a great practical  and convenient solution for parents. A travel system generally consists of a stroller, infant car seat and car seat base.

So from the moment your child is born, you can carry them in the infant car seat, which is easily transferable from the stroller to the car seat base by clipping it in and out, all without disturbing your sleeping child.

As your child grows and outgrows the infant car seat, the stroller can then be used on its own so you can then enjoy all the benefits of a standard stroller to see your child though those essential early years

Double (Triple) Strollers

Double strollers are a great option for parents with twins on the way, or already have a small child but have a new baby on the way. There are two types of double stroller, either a tandem stroller or side-by-side stroller. There are benefits to both types of double stroller so you just need to do your research to find out which one will suit your particular needs.

With tandem strollers one child sits at the front and one sits at the back, which can cause the odd argument as they recommend that the older child is always at the front. However, they have great maneuverability especially through narrow doorways and the like. Side by side strollers are perhaps not so great in narrow and tighter surroundings, but encourage child interaction and a good view for both.

Jogging (All Terrain) Strollers

Jogging strollers are for the athletic parents amongst you and are ideal for parents who enjoy jogging or running. As we become more health conscience and understanding the role exercise plays in preventing Postpartum Depression, the jogging stroller provides the perfect solution to look after your child but go running at the same time. Jogging strollers have 3 wheels, are lightweight and have inflated tyres, just like on any push bike, giving you maximum suspension for most types of road surface.

All terrain strollers look almost the same, but the slight difference is the front swivel wheel (The Joggers have a fixed front wheel). This swivel wheel does make the maneuverability a lot easier, so going off road has never been so easy, as well as you typical trips to the mall and other outings too.

Carragies

And finally you have the carriage style stoller which is modeled on the old-styled prams, with the large wheels and compartment space. They are ideal for newborns and provide plenty of sleeping space for you child. They are a little limited in features when compared to other strollers, and unfrotunately very few models will convert to a stroller are you child grows.  Quite bulky these carriages are strictly for the mums who want a classic feel without the bells and whistles.

There are not the most practical stoller out there, due to the large wheels, but nevertheless, have that classy look about them that some people find irresistable.
